On Wednesday and Thursday this week we went to spend some time in our new Year 1 classroom. We all thought it was much bigger and had lots of exciting new toys in! We also met our new teacher Mrs Constable and our new TA Mrs Painter, who were lovely. We made some beautiful hot air balloons and wrote about our hopes, dreams and aspirations for the future. We all had a great time and can’t wait for September!!

Sports Week has been brilliant fun. We have enjoyed Zumba, yoga, circuit training and a whole school Wake and Shake. Even the teachers joined in!!! Our Sports Day on Thursday was amazing. We all enjoyed taking part in the fun races and having a picnic too. Thanks to everyone who came to watch and especially those brave enough to take part in the parent’s races!!

In Foxes class this week we all went on a dinosaur hunt and wrote down the names of the dinosaurs we found. Some of them have very long names! We have also been using different methods to measure dinosaur footprints and learning dinosaur facts. On Wednesday the chicks came to visit and we all had the chance to hold them. They are very cute!

We went dinosaur crazy in Hedgehogs class this week! We followed some rather large footprints through the school and they led us to a nest with a dinosaur egg in it! We looked after the baby dinosaur very well for its Mummy and wrote all about the hunt on special dinosaur paper.

We’ve been really focusing on our writing since we came back from our holidays. We have written stories, labelled pictures and taken our writing outside. We have concentrated on how we form our letters and tried to remember our full stops and capital letters. All our practise is really paying off and we are becoming fantastic writers!

We have had a fantastic last week of term! On Monday we all enjoyed reading our favourite stories for Bedtime Story day. On Tuesday we had a visit from Jonathan’s Jungle where we all got to hold a millipede and a snake and met a very beautiful tarantula. On Wednesday it was Superhero day. We had Superhero writing, building, digging and a Superhero sports day. It was brilliant. Have a safe, enjoyable holiday and see you next term.

In Foxes class this week we have had great fun trying to get through Spiderman’s web to find our number bonds to 10. We have also been writing and drawing our own Superhero comics. On Wednesday we all got a little bit wet but had great fun splashing in some big puddles. It was lovely to see so many of you at our Wow morning. We hope you enjoyed looking at our work and watching the Dough Disco!

In Foxes class this week we have been learning our number bonds to 10. We have used lots of different equipment to help us and we had good fun playing the water gun game where we had to try and squirt the 2 correct numbers. We also read the book ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson and we wrote letters to him to say thanks for all his help.

This week in Foxes class we have been learning about doubling numbers, using lots of different equipment to help us. In PE we have all been practising our ball and racket skills and playing tennis. This term we are also having singing lessons from Lynn. It is great fun!

Thank you all so much for the wonderful costumes you made for our ‘Make a Noise’ concert. We had a brilliant time performing all the songs and we hope you enjoyed it too! We have had a lovely week in class doing lots of Easter activities including making some yummy Easter cakes. Happy Easter and we will see you all next term!

In Foxes class this week we had an extra special PE lesson when Dave from Swindon Town football came to teach us some football skills. We all had great fun! There was jelly in the mud kitchen this week; we all enjoyed getting really messy. On Thursday we made Miss Townsend very happy because we all got changed for PE before the timer ran out!!

This week was Science Week and Foxes class have been doing lots of experiments. We have been investigating what happens when we put raisins in lemonade, what is the best ramp and how to make a volcano! It has been lots of fun! We have also been writing something special for our Mums this week, hopefully you will all receive them on Sunday!

We all enjoyed our trip to Farmer Gow’s on Monday and it inspired us to all write some fantastic captions for all our pictures. We have been planting cress as well this week; we have put the pots in lots of different places to see which one grows first!

We have been very busy writing our own versions of ‘Stuck in the Mud’ this week in Foxes Class. We are using fantastic story language such as ‘Once upon a time’, ‘Early one morning’, ‘So’, ‘Next’ and ‘After that’. We have also been enjoying the outdoors areas, playing catch and building giant marble runs. Next Monday is our trip to Farmer Gow’s and we are SO excited! We can’t wait to meet all the animals.

We have had such a busy time in Foxes class this week. Our teachers have been assessing our phonics and maths skills and are very impressed with how much we have learnt so far! Lowri taught us all about celebrating St David’s day on Wednesday. Thursday was World Book Day and we had great fun dressing up and showing the potatoes we had decorated. One of the characters from ‘Stuck in the Mud’ came to visit us on Friday when Grace’s Mum and Dad brought in their pet goats! This has made us even more excited about our visit to the farm!

We have learnt a new Talk for Writing story in Fox Class this week. It is called ‘Stuck in the Mud’ and is all about Farmer Tom and his cow Daisy. We had great fun thinking of new actions for the words including: horse, goat, rat, cow, sheep, so after that and cup of tea. Can you tell what they are in the pictures?

In Foxes class this week we have carried on learning and retelling our Little Jack story. This is called ‘Talk for Writing’ and will help us develop fantastic story language when we start to write our own stories. This week we have all enjoyed making our own story roads and writing parts of the story. We have also had great fun on the trim trail and exploring our huge field.

In Foxes class this week we have been learning the story of ‘Little Jack’. We can retell the story using actions and have role played being the characters during a question and answer session. We have also been making fantastic story maps to tell the story. In class we have enjoyed dressing up as Fairy tale characters.

We have been learning about Chinese New Year this week in Fox class. We learnt the story of the Chinese Zodiac and found out that most of us are Rabbits or Dragons! We made some beautiful dragon masks and puppets and enjoyed our Chines restaurant role play, especially trying to use the chopsticks!

We’ve been learning about more curious creatures this week in Fox class and read ‘Monsters love Underpants’ by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort. It was lovely weather this week so we took advantage and had a picnic outside. We have also been taking care of our resources and cleaning the mud kitchen! On Wednesday we went on the Life Bus where we met Harold the Giraffe and learnt all about our bodies and how to stay healthy.

We are all happy to be back at school after the Christmas break. We have been exploring all the ice outside and seeing how long it takes to melt. We read ‘Zog’ by Julia Donaldson and this inspired us to think about Dragons! We made dragons and also made some dragon eggs. It was a special day for Mrs Booth on Friday. It was her birthday and we all had cake, we won’t tell you her age but she is 1 more than 49!!

We’ve been feeling very festive in Fox class this week. We have been making beautiful decorations to decorate our classroom and making and writing our Christmas cards. Our ‘Elfie’ photo booth has been open all week and we’ve had great fun taking photos of our friends and even Miss Townsend!!

In Foxes this week we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes and making 3D models. We have also been using the Numicon to make a number line up to 20 and seeing if we could find the matching numbers. Even though the weather has been freezing we have been outside mark making and also trying to rescue our dinosaurs from the ice!!

We have been learning all about 2D and 3D shapes this week. We made shape pictures and built 3D shapes from cocktail sticks and blue tack. We also loved making clay pots. We took great care in decorating them and we can’t wait till they are dry.

Foxes class have enjoyed learning outside this week. We have loved playing hide and seek with our den making equipment. We were very excited to have a new den making kit that uses 3D shapes to explore. It was tricky at first but we persevered and worked together as a team to join the pieces together.

We have had great fun during Art week. We have been painting and drawing butterflies, playing with poster paint and developing our motor skills by painting pumpkins. We have also been investigating what happens when we play with a pendulum.

This week we were very excited to go on our trip to the fire station. We learnt about what a fire fighter does and had a look around the fire engine. We also watched a film about fire safety and why we must not play with matches. All of us had a play with the hose. It was great fun!!

In Fox class this week we have been trying to keep dry while building a fantastic water course. We worked hard as a team and had lots of fun. While we were outside some of us were keeping an eagle eye out for hot air balloons as well. Indoors we have enjoyed making patterns on the light box with multi-coloured rice and practising writing our letters. On Wednesday our teddy bears had a great day at school and we treated them to a teddy bears picnic. Yummy!!

In Fox class this week we visited the Builders’ Yard where we tried to build the tallest tower in the world. We also experimented using pegs and lolly sticks to what we could make. Back in the Exploration Station we have been getting muddy and some of us made a big splash!!

We read the story of Sylvia and the Bird in Fox class this week, Sylvia is a beautiful, sparkly dragon and she inspired us to design dragons of our own. We have also been making up our own dragon stories and acting them out. Outside we have been using our den making equipment to build a fantastic aeroplane. We have been getting a little bit messy too, building mud castles and making porridge play dough!!

In Fox class this week we have been busy learning our new graphemes and practising how to write them. We have also been playing a great Spiderman web slinging game that has helped us with our number recognition. When we have used the den building equipment this week we have remembered how to use it safely with 2 of us carrying the large logs.

What a brilliant first week at school we have had in Fox class. We have loved exploring our classroom, getting to know our teachers and making new friends. We have especially enjoyed playing with the sand and water and playing outside in Merry Meadow. Everyone did a great job of sharing their treasure boxes and Mrs Murray and Miss Townsend loved seeing all our special things. Thank you for bringing them in! We’ve also talked about what we’d like to be when we grow up…lots of us have exciting ideas!
