This week we have been adding and subtracting using numbers 0 to 9. We used fingers, numicon and counters to help us. Some of us know some number facts off by heart.
We had 6 children who wanted 3 bananas. We had to share them. We carefully used a knife to cut each one in half and had enough for one bit each.
We enjoyed building dens outside and playing parachute games.
We are looking forward to having a great time at home during the holiday.
This has been a very exciting week for the EYFS children as we visited the farm! The children got to do lots of different activities, including feeding and holding the animals, going on a tractor ride and they even got to walk a goat!
This week we have been learning how to tell the story of The Little Red Hen. We have made bread and even made our own flour by crushing wheat seeds!
We have continued our work on 3D shapes, including finding half of some play dough shapes. . We have found halves of 2D shapes and solved sharing problems.
We have had fun making up our own independent activities including investigating magnets and sharing stories together.
We have looked at the amazing frog home learning that we did on frogs and celebrated all the children that have moved up a zone on the reading race.
This week in EYFS we have been hunting for 3D shapes and finding lots in our outside environment. We have challenged ourselves to make some out of sticks and blutac. We have watched our tadpoles growing. We have learnt about how a caterpillar grows and made pictures to show the life cycle of a caterpillar. We have been investigating water and having lots of fun!
This week we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog. We have visited the pond and have looked at frogspawn and tadpoles in the classroom. Some bags had blown into our pond area so now we want to go on a litter hunt on the field.
We loved going on a frog word hunt. Each frog had a number between 10 and 20 on it. We had to find which word went with which number and record it on our quiz sheet.
We have all read this week. Sometimes we use our fingers to split longer words up so that they are easier to read.
In the vet roleplay we have been helping to make the animals better and making sure that they are comfortable in their cages. We decided that the crocodile would like a chicken to eat and wrote a notice to go on the dinosaur cage warning people that he bites! We have also chosen our own topics to learn about and this week some of us have made fans and kites! We have looked for bugs.
We have practised recognising 2D shapes and talked about how many sides and corners they have.
This week we have been taking away using objects, our fingers or our heads. We have used the words subtract, take away, how many are left? We have used the light box to practise adding and subtracting.
We have also been taking away on the computer. We have to work out which order the numbers go in so that the number sentence makers sense.
We have written our own Supertato stories and other different styles of writing. Some children have been writing letters to Mrs Dance.
Since the weather has improved we are enjoying using the outside apparatus. If it is a bit wobbly we like to help each other!
We have enjoyed making things using different materials and showing our work to the class.
Super Science week!
We have had a super science week with lots of different investigations. We had to free a little plastic person trapped in ice and watched what happened when we held a chocolate button in our hands.
This week EYFS children have been learning all about Diwali. We have had a fantastic time making Rangoli rice patterns and clay diva lamps.
Fun Exploring Outside
We have had lots of fun exploring outside and have worked really hard to share with our friends and take turns. We are so pleased the weather is still lovely!
EYFS children had a great time exploring the outdoors on Forest Friday! The scavenger hunt was a great success and we found lots of interesting things to bring back to our classrooms!
